library books

I get about 99% of my books from the Lockport library.  I live less than a mile away, they are open until 9pm most night, you can do requests on-line and you can't beat the price.  I've been trying to come up with a way to track the books I've read (in a little journal, in a blog entry and in a separate blog are just a few of my systems) but I have just found this:  librarything.com.  It's double-cool w/ knobs. 

I've been entering my 2005 and 2006 reads in the tracker because I can't seem to figure out the trick to importing.  You can see all the chick-lit and brit-chick-lit and true-crime-lit anall the other embarassing crap I've read here.

Stephen King is one fucked-up dude.  I got my Entertainment Weekly today and the first two chapters of his new book "Cell" are in it.  Here's the story so far:  People with cellphones will all go insane and then die!  The first two chapters are set in Boston, on Boylston Street of all places, right in front of the Four Season Hotel.  Where I go to have high tea.  And now I'm not thinking about tea at the Four Season and the wonderful little scones and clotted cream and cucumber sandwiches and baby creme brulees.  I'm thinking about how everyone at the Four Seasons is going insane and dying! 

The book comes out in three days. 

51 books

I've just finished my 51st book of the year.  Most of it is fiction and chick-lit or other similar crap.  No Pulizer Prize winners here.  But I've always liked to read and I guess that reading crap is better than watching reruns of Survivor.

But I'm totally doing that too.

larkspur lane

Tonight I went out, sans child, to run a few errands.  I needed to return a pair of kid shoes to Old Navy (too small) and pick up a fleece pullover for Will.  On the drive home I took a different route through some dark and twisty streets of Amherst (because I'm trying to hit a deer) and noticed one side street called Larkspur Lane.  The whole rest of the drive home I was thinking about Larkspur Lane and how familiar it sounded.  Did one my friends from high school live on that street?  Maybe an old boyfriend?  It truly bothered me for hours.

And then later, at home, I happened to glance at our bookshelf in the living room.

I'm going to read it (again) tomorrow.
