gourmet pizza and delicious red wine and foursquare

Some jerky stole the FourSquare mayorship of Zavino Pizza from me a few days ago so I am going tonight to reclaim it.

This is one of the *best pizzas I have ever had. 

The Polpettini - tomato, provelone, basil and miniature veal meatballs.  Zavino also has a nice selection of wines and they are within stumbling distance of 1)McGillin's 2)El Vez 3)the awesome gelato place and 4)my hotel.  Score.

*The prosciutto, shaved parmesan and arugula pizza at Table 31 also makes me drooly but apparently they don't make it any more.
 

in need of a mud room

In the past I have counted on Little League being cancelled in the event of rain or a waterlogged playing field.  NO MORE.

The thing about my house, which is adorable but really old and falling apart in places and the master bathroom is crap and we need new windows and the outside stucco to be redone and there are spiders in the basement is that we do not have a mud room so all that dirt and shit gets tracked into my house.  Unless I make the boy disrobe on the front porch, which I totally did on this day.

tiny hands

My hands are kind of small, almost a little abnormal given the fact that I'm not a small person.

Will also has hands that are pretty tiny.

weekend wrap-up

This weekend I:

• Attended the coldest Little League game EVER.
• Got all my hair cut off.
• Napped on the sofa.
• Weighed myself and almost died over the 5 pound/2 week weight gain.  No booze this week for me!
• Went to new Mexican restaurant that sadly had no liquor license.  Totally fucking lame.
• Fought with my kid over bedtime, bathtime, talking back, eating peanut butter, eating bologna, picking up his toys and watching TV.
• Listened to the entire CD of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's "Greatest Hits".  Which made me feel super old.  Older than usual!

Will rode the Bungie thingie at the Eastern Hills Mall. 

Other than being mildly disturbed by misspelling of "BUNGY" and the sign that read "YOU'RE PICTURE WHILE ON BUNGY $2", I was okay with it.  I'm also surprised that Will actually did it - he's kind of a chickenshit.

The other day, my husband told someone that he thought I was brilliant. And just like that, he is OFF THE SHITLIST.  For now, at least.

He looks super hot in Will's bike helmet, too.
 

guacamole

I live in Lockport, and we don't have Wegman's. We have Tops, and Quality Markets and Aldi. And Aldi kind of sucks.

But sometimes they have avocados for a buck and I'll get a few and make ghetto guacamole.

I smash up the avocados, leaving some of it a little chunky and add in a chopped tomato, a spoonful of salsa, a glop of mayonnaise and like 1/2 teaspoon minced red onion.  I don't really like onion. 

Add salt and pepper and squeeze a half lime over it all.  If I close my eyes, it tastes a little like the $13 El Vez guacamole I get on Margarita Mondays, just not $13 or served by a butch lesbian with tattoos on her boobs.

I didn't post the FKP, because as previously explained I was knockered out.  I will tell you that I was home in time on Friday to meet the boy's bus and as he got off it and ran towards me with both arms outstretched to give me a hug, I felt truly blessed to be his mom.

He brushed his teeth the night before this was taken, but I guess we forgot to wash his face.

Blue cotton candy for dinner = WIN.
