bachelorette days

OKay, so tomorrow? Peter is taking Will?  To Philadelphia?  For THREE DAYS.  I will be alone in my house with Petey the cat for THREE DAYS.  I have not had this much alone time since 2001. 

Will is acting strange so I will most likely take him to the doctor's tomorrow where I will probably be told that under no circumstances should he be allowed to travel, which in a kind of strange way, I am actually hoping for.

Because, THREE DAYS, people  Without my child.  Left alone (with WIRELESS ACCESS but that's only a small consolation) while my spouse and child are far far away. 

I know Will will miss me and all that.  I hope I will be able to sleep at night without him in the next room.  Also that Peter feeds him something other than chicken nuggets and fries.

Yo, I am blogging from the comfort of the living room, which means that I am blogging one handed while watching Maisy with Will on my lap, with a sippy cup of milk balanced on one leg and a little bowl of Teddy Grahams on the arm of the leather chair.  Wireless rocks.

Random things I have said and done over the last few days:

• Attended an informal meeting for the planning committee for my 20th high school reunion.  I am in charge of music for the event (which will not be an issue since I still rock out to Duran Duran and the like to this day) and setting up a website.  WSHS87.com, that's it.
• Drugged up my kid on Children's Tylenol hidden in V8 Splash juice. He had a fever and I could not miss work, and neither could Peter, so I just loaded Will up, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. It worked.
• Invited to join a group for lunch at a local restaurant (most of whom I do not know), I sat outside in my car, watching everyone entering, waiting to see if I recognized anyone.  I was not about to walk in and join the group if no one I knew was there.  I pretended to be talking on my cellphone when anyone walked past my car, and after 10 minutes, no one I recognized had arrived so I left.  Yes I am a loser.

Yesterday we went skating!  And I was unprepared!  Peter and Will and my sister were somewhat prepared.  I was dressed like this:

The ice was quite cold.  And slippery. 

But! I was not unhappy.  Because just before we went to the skating party, I bought myself a new toy:

It's PINK AND GREEN.  And oh so pretty.

So, after I thawed out my feet I installed wireless (all by myself, bitches...it wasn't as difficult as I thought and I should have done it long ago) and now I can surf and blog and look at porn all day from the LIVING ROOM.  Or the BEDROOM.  Or the BASEMENT. 

Or the BACKYARD.

I'm so cheating.  This photo is from like, Wednesday and I am posting this on Saturday morning.  It's 10am and I am just slightly hungover and getting ready to 1) drink coffee 2) have a shower and 3) attend an ice-skating party at the Pepsi Center.  Having kids is great - you get to go ice-skating on random Saturdays in August and then self-medicate yourself with drinks afterwards.

I attended the Buffalo Old Home Week Happy (To Be Back) Hour last night in the Elmwood Avenue area.  Super fun!  Lots of old and new friends.  However, I am reminded once again of how I am 100 years old and really cannot mix wine and beer and also have to be back on the road to Lockport by 10pm at the latest or else the whole next day will be shit.

Anyway, here's the picture:

It was a few days ago, on our first foray into the world of Chuck E. Cheese land.  I set WIll free amongst the other runny-nosed children and (laughingly) tried to get some work done at one of the sticky-tabled booths.  Writing Spree pieces at Chuck E. Cheese does not work, people!  Just a heads-up.

I've only been to see two movies since Will was born, and I'm not a huge fan of Kirsten Dunst, but the trailer to this features my second favourite New Order song which means that I now have a girl-crush on Sofia Coffola and I might just have to make a trip to the theatre.

check-up

I saw my doctor today who tells me that:

1. I am responsible for my own happiness.
2. I should add this to my daily cocktail of meds, to help with that happiness.
3. My sugars and liver and blood pressure are all excellent.
4. I have been at a standstill with this since May, which truly sucks.
5. I should remember to perform a breast self examination every month.

I wonder if Greg Fornasiero is still reading this and if he is excited about my touching my own breasts on a monthly basis.

I took a non-pre-planned break from blogging this week.  I've actually been staying away from the computer and besides working and chasing after Will, I've been doing a lot of (gasp) reading.  Not too much TV, either.  Well, maybe a bit of Big Brother.  And Celebrity Fit Club.  I'm still reality TV's bitch, you know.

I also want to bid adieu to my friends the Ratners who are leaving for fucking India tomorrow.  Ian has been sent to Bangalore for a year with Fidelity Investments, so instead of hanging out with all the preps in Hingham this year, the whole family will be living where the cows roam free.
