I usually do my grocery shopping at Tops (Never Stops!) but once in a while I pull a sneaky move going home from work, and pick Will up from daycare a bit later than normal so I can hit the Wegman's on Transit Road. There is no Wegman's in the Lockport area so this is a big deal for me. Because I lurve Wegman's. The fresh warm bread from the bakers, the beautiful cheese displays in the cheese shop and the milions of magazines in the news/magazine aisle make me kind of hot. So, I should know better than to just 'pop in' for a few things without expecting to come out about $96.29 poorer.
Witness! The power of cheese:
I was offered a sample of this Gran Queso at the afore-mentioned cheese shop and it was damn good. So I bought some. Along with some other nice artisanal cheeses that averaged about $14.99/pound. Which made me kind of miss Trader Joe's and also smack myself again for the sadness of the forgotten cheese in Michigan back in March. It's probably still in her fridge. Will retrieve in June.
Also! Lean Cuisine on sale! Super-cheap!
Unfortunately, LC Panini were not included in this super-sale. As you might know, I dig the Lean Cuisine Panini and want to make love to one every day at lunchtime. But I have been denied. I still bought $30 worth of Chicken Fettucini and Peanut Chicken and Chicken Enchilada Suiza but oh, the Panini. Should totally be on sale.
Add in a few loaves of bread and a small package of tortellini and I had spent almost a hundred bucks.
But I have plenty of Lean Cuisine, enough to last me through the end of the month.
I lurve Wegmans too! And my mother is BFF with the cheese shop lady at the Transit Road Wegs. I kid you not. And it's not like they knew each other from somewhere else. SHE JUST LOVES THE CHEESE SHOP LADY. I feel validated by your post.

Ever since you first mentioned the panini, I've been on the lookout, but haven't seen it at any of my local grocery stores. I FINALLY found them and had one for dinner tonight. I must say: YUM! Thanks for the recommendation.
