fun fact of the day - coconuts!

I couldn't seem to get the delicious Diet Coke w/ Lime beverage off my mind last night. I decided that it would be very tasty with Malibu coconut rum added. I drank Malibu by the bucketfull in college. I used to say that it reminded me of being at the beach - it kind of smells like that Hawaiian Tropic suntan oil that comes in the brown bottle and gets all greasy and sticky and covered with sand.

Did you know that a coconut is the largest known seed in the world?
Once a coconut falls from a palm tree, it takes about three years for this seed to take root and sprout into a new tree.

Update @ 8:01pm: Yeah, I finally bought the @#!^%& highchair, and I put the $%^&*$#@ highchair together (it took me @!#$%& 90 minutes and I still have an extra screw). Will likes it!

diet coke w/ lime

I had a diet coke w/ lime with my lunch today. Not bad.

I was wondering if it would ever be possible to purchase something like this with the rum already added. I went to Japan to visit my sissy a few years ago and you could buy any kind of beverage - with or without alcohol - at vending machines. If I lived in Japan I would probably be a big boozer. However, I would never live in Japan; it is a country made for very small people.

Oh, it's Monday and I have to go back to work tomorrow. Sad sad sadness. Will and I took a trip out to the Braintree Babies 'R' Us this afternoon to buy a highchair. I spent 20 minutes comparing models and comparison shopping and actually loaded the thing into my cart (they have the most enormous carts there) and then realized I had totally forgotten my wallet at home. I tease Peter all the time about having ADD but I think it's rubbing off on me. Or maybe I am just sleep deprived. I am a bit tired b/c Will has chosen to wake up at 12 midnight and again at 4:30 am for the last several nights. I'd like to try to keep him up later at night but he is passed out by 6pm every night. He hasn't slept thru 12 hours since February. boo hoo.

In other ADD news, I have started about ten projects in the last few days - including cleaning out my closet, cleaning out Peter's closet, posting stuff for sale on ebay, looking through Will's clothes to see what doesn't fit anymore, making banana bread, crafty projects, etc - and there is crap spread out all over the house. I get started doing something and then I stop and start something else. This is totally unlike me.

Also, his eyes are totally changing color to brown. They were green for awhile.

Tonight I am going to watch the Sopranos that I TiVo'd last night and try to go to bed early. I have some stuff to review for a meeting tomorrow morning. I may have a Bailey's. Also, I might just start another project.

eating my hand

Will has this thing going on where he will put anything closeby into his mouth, including his own little hand. Sometimes his foot. I guess this means we'll be seeing some teeth soon. The '34' on his shirt refers to the age of his mom, who is an old old hag (and I feel it today).

For dinner last night I had a grilled cheese sandwich w/ tomato (basically all I eat on Fridays during Lent) and a giant glass of Bailey's. Yum.
I used to have a hundred of these glasses, they are from some ADPi formal back in 1990 or '91. I only have four or five left and they are kind of lame but they are the pefect size for Bailey's on the rocks!

a nice day at last

Okay, so I was a little nervous because Peter left for Florida early this morning and left me alone with the baby FOR ALMOST A WEEK. So far, everything is fine. Will had a lovely three-hour nap this morning and it is about 70 degrees outside so we went out for two long walks. On the second walk I was wearing my old flip flops, and my feet looked pretty grim so I decided to pop in for a pedicure. Will sat on my lap the whole time (50 minutes) and was a very good boy.

I don't have to work again until Tuesday and I am hoping that I do okay as a single mom. Peter gets back on Wednesday and he will owe me bigtime. Today's pedicure is only an appetizer of the nice things I am going to do and buy for myself.

Here's a picture of Will from a few days ago. He started eating real food (well, baby food) about a week and a half ago. Here he is, not sure if he is enjoying carrots.

Update: It's 6:21pm. Will had green beans for dinner and had a nice swim in the tub. Now he is asleep and I am going to watch one of the 100 movies I have saved on TiVo. I may just have a Bailey's as well.
